Coat Styles, Colors, and Generations

Coat Styles with Generations

This is the most common question we get, “What will the coat look like”… Below are some examples of coat styles with each generation.
(Pictures are all our  Puppies/Dogs! They are not available they are for example only!!)

Although there are a lot of generations, we only breed some! Below are the generations we breed! We will add as we go!

F1 (First Generation- Golden Retriever x Poodle)

50/50 Mix (Approx-Genetics can throw slightly one way vs the other)

Coat Style: Shaggy or Wavy/Loose Curl. Facial fur can vary due to furnishing/IC genes.

(Coat Style is Unpredictable with F1 Generation)

Coat Maintenance: Moderate to High Maintenance (Daily Brushing is highly recommended)

Shedding: Minimal to None. You are taking a high shedding breed to a non-shedding breed.

(F1's typically Shed a little- typically NOTHING like the pure shedding breed. Ex: Golden Retriever or Bernese Mtn. Dog)

Allergies: F1's are Recommended for families with Mild to Moderate Allergies.

F2: (F1 x F1)

We do NOT Breed this generation. We strive to produce a nice fluffy coat. Since F1's all Carry the IC (Incorrect Coat) Gene & weak Furnishings (Furnishings produce facial hair & are responsible for shedding), two Fi's Bred together is a high risk of producing a flat, wiry coat and will most likely be heavy shedding.

F1B (F1 x Poodle)

75/25 MiX (Approx-Genetics can throw slightly one way vs the other)

Coat Style: Shaggy/Wavy Curl, or Tight Curl (Coat style is more predictable with DNA Testing- IC Gene, Furnishing, & Curl Gene)

Coat Maintenance: Moderate to High (Daily Brushing Recommended)

Shedding: Typically Non shed

Allergies: Recommended for families with Moderate to Severe Allergies

F3 (F1B x F1B)

Outcome is almost identical to F1B since both both parents are the same generation

75/25 Mix (Approx-Genetics can throw slightly one way vs the other)

Coat Style: No Curl/Flat, Shaggy/Wavy Curl, or Tight Curl

Coat Maintenance: Moderate to High (Daily Brushing Recommended)

Shedding: Typically Non Shed (if both parents are full furnished no shedding is expected)

Allergies: Recommended for families with Moderate to Severe Allergies

Multi Generational or "Multi Gen" (Broad Term Usually Used After the F3 Generation Since There Are so Many Generations)

Coat Style: Very Predictable All Types. No Curl, Shagg/ Wavy Curl ,or Tight Curl

Coat Maintenance: Moderate to High (Daily Brushing Recommended)

Shedding: Typically Non Shed

Allergies: Good for all Types of Allergies

(If Severe Allergies are Present, Poodle % is Recommended to be Equivalent to F1B)
